From Formula One to family car shows, there are lots of fantastic automotive events happening over the next few months – and the majority can be attended in person

Motoring fans have been starved of their primary passion over the past year or so, with most car shows and racing events being cancelled due to Covid-19.

However, with restrictions starting to be lifted here in the UK, more and more organisers are announcing that their events will be going ahead this summer. So, it's time to plan your itinerary! To help you, we've compiled a list of the best shows, races, festivals and jumbles that you can attend in-person over the next few months...

Motoring events in May 

The best motoring events to attend this summer motor show

22 & 23 Magnificent Motors – One of the biggest free motoring events on the South Coast. Expect numerous classic cars and motorbikes, a funfair and much more.

22 & 23 Historic Sports Car Club – This International Trophy meeting at the famous Silverstone circuit will see a programme of races across a variety of classes.

23 Simply Electric – Fans of battery-powered vehicles will get thechance to show off their cars and bikes, and connect with likeminded people.

25 Ben Collins: Stories from a Stig – In this exclusive, free online event for Boundless members, one of the drivers behind Top Gear's mysterious 'Stig' mask will share some of his career anecdotes and secrets.

30 Prescott Italia – This brand-new non-competitive hill climb event in the heart of the Cotswolds is open to all kinds of Italian cars and bikes.

30 Supercar Fest: The Runway – Expect thrills galore as fast cars are pitted against each other in a high-speed chase. There will be live music and camping, too.

31 35th Yorkshire Classic Vehicle Show – Hundreds of classic cars, bikes and trucks gather against the sweeping backdrop of Ripley Castle's magnificent deer park.

The best motoring events to attend this summer E-Type Jaguar

Simply Porsche – Whether you have an old 911 or one of the latest Cayenne SUVs, come and show it off at this tribute to the legendary German marque.

8-10 London Concours – Eighty of the world's most precious cars will be brought together at this extravagant garden party in the heart of the capital.

12 & 13 E-Type 60 – Celebrating 60 years of the iconic E-Type Jaguar, this event will include displays of all the variants, along with 1960s-themed live entertainment.

12 & 13 Land Rover Legends – Described as “the ultimate show for Land Rover enthusiasts”, this event will include a parade of vehicles, an off-road driving course, stalls and more.

13 BMW Show Lite – This action-packed day will see various BMW models speeding around the track, and there will also be live entertainment and a funfair.

13 A Day with Supercars – Performance cars, artisan food stalls, arts and crafts, cocktails... This charity event at beautiful Whatton House has the lot!

13 Mini Cooper Register Rally – Celebrate National Mini Day in the company of Minis of all shapes, sizes and eras. A fun event for the whole family.

19 Simply VW – Whether you're crazy about your Campervan or potty about your Polo, today is the time to show it off. Visitors are also welcome to come and admire the display.

20 The Graham Maxwell Celebration Autotest – Run by the Boundless North West Motorsports Group, this competitive but friendly event gives drivers the chance to test their skills on a series of timed courses.

20 Hot Rod & Custom Car Show – Muscle cars and custom bikes line up alongside each other at this annual extravaganza. There will be live music and a chance to buy vintage memorabilia, too.

25-27 London Classic Car Show – From carriages to Cadillacs, 1960s racers to modern supercars, this three-day event will showcase a huge variety of vehicles spanning multiple eras.

27 Simply Jaguar– Proud of your XJS or E-Type and want to show it off to others? Then head down to Beaulieu for this homage to the legendary marque.

29 Eckington Classic Car & Bike Motor Show – This friendly, charity-run event is popular with car enthusiasts and families alike. Expect to see a broad display of vintage wheels.

Motoring events in July

The best motoring events to attend this summer F1 Silverstone

Wallop Wheels & Wings – Come and meet members of the Boundless Classic Vehicle Group at this colourful tribute to bygone modes of transport.

Great North Classic Car Show – Featuring an array of classic and exotic cars, a post-event barbecue with live music, along with a few surprises...

3 & 4 Rotary Cars in the Park – Hundreds of classic cars will vye for your attention at this annual event, which also includes live entertainment and food stalls.

Charges apply for participants, but visitors can enter for free (donations welcome); Beacon Park, Lichfield, Staffs, WS13 7AW

National Austin 7 Rally – These charming little cars will be out in force at this annual festival. You'll also get the chance to test your driving skills and browse some Austin-based jumble.

8-11 Festival of Speed – Watch everything from classic sports cars to the latest F1 machines roar up and down Goodwood's 1.16-mile parkland drive.

11 Derby Retro & Classic Car Show– Cars, vans, motorbikes, scooters, bicycles... If it's got wheels, there's every chance you'll see it at this annual family event.

16-18 Auto Royale– Modern British culture meets world-class automotive machinery in Buckinghamshire's sprawling Waddesdon Manor estate.

16-18 British Grand Prix– Silverstone will be welcoming motor-racing fans for round 10 of the F1 season. It promises to be a weekend of high drama as the world's best drivers vye for glory.

18 BHP Fuel Fest– Alongside the static displays, there will be motorcycle stunts, a BMX track, family entertainment and loads more.

18 Cheshire Motor Show – Classic cars, bikes and commercial vehicles will be on display, and there will be live music and a children's funfair, too.

18 Simply Ford – Whether you have a Ka, a Kuga or a vintage Capri, you're welcome to show it off at this homage to the US car company. Spectators are welcome, too.

23-25 CarFest North – Created by DJ Chris Evans, CarFest celebrates its 10th birthday this year. As well as a vast line-up of cool cars, there will be live music from All Saints, Basement Jaxx and McFly.

25 Simply Japanese– If you've been waiting for an opportunity to show off your Nissan, Toyota or Mitsubishi, this family-friendly event is it.

30 – 1 August Silverstone Classic – This three-day gathering includes high-speed track action, live music, a funfair and more. The Boundless Classic Vehicle Group will also have a stand at the event and are inviting other Boundless motoring group members to display their cars. In doing so, you could save some money.

31 Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional– The “most marvellously mundane motor cars” will be celebrated at this unique event in the grounds of the 16th-century Grimsthorpe Castle.

Motor shows in August

The best motoring events to attend this summer Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb

Bromyard Speed Festival – Otherwise known as 'Altitude with Attitude', this event gives drivers of vintage cars and bikes the chance to take part in a non-competitive hill climb.

£85 per car or £45 per motorcycle (inc. one free breakfast). Spectators £20 per car, £10 per motorcycle; Shelsley Walsh, Worcs, WR6 6RP

Boundless Classic Vehicle Group Display – The CVG will be showing off their rides as part of a charity fun day (advanced registration essential). There will also be live jazz music and afternoon teas served in the garden centre next door.

West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Show– The Boundless Classic Vehicle Group will also have a large stand at this impressive, free car and bike show.

Leighton Hall Classic Car Festival – Cars of all eras will be displayed, and there will also be a show arena, competitions, trade stands and an autojumble.

Ford Fair – The biggest and best Ford festival in Europe is back this year, with around 5,000 Ford vehicles expected. With special displays and a retail village also on the menu, it promises to be spectacular.

13-15 Retro CarFest – This brand-new event from the creators of CarFest will celebrate the cars, music and culture of the '60s,'70s and '80s.

14 Sussex Summer Spree – Join the Boundless Classic Vehicle Group on a summer road trip through the idyllic country lanes of East Sussex and Kent, culminating in a visit to the Brenzett Aeronautical Museum. Pre-booking essential.

14 & 15 Broadway Car Show – With Saturday dedicated to supercars and Sunday paying tribute to the classics, this show has something for everyone.

15 Retro Warwick Classic Car Show– Over 150 classic and vintage cars are expected in Warwick's historic Market Square for this annual event.

15 Das Auto Show – Owners of German cars can put them through their paces around the Santa Pod Raceway in Wellingborough. There will also be a wide range of static Audis, Porsches, VWs, etc, to admire.

19-22 British Motor Show– Attractions at this three-day event will include supercar driving experiences, vintage car displays, celebrity appearances, a kids' zone and much more.

21 Simply Aston Martin– If you're lucky enough to own one of these legendary British cars, come and show it off. Spectators are also very welcome.

21 & 22 Tatton Park Passion For Power – Whether you want to admire the extraordinary number of exotic cars on display or browse the stalls for a bargain, you'll find something here to while away the hours.

22 The Windrush Run – Join the Boundless Classic Vehicle Group on an idyllic drive through the Cotswolds. There will be several refreshment stops along the way, with the route finishing at the Jet Age Museum in Gloucester. Pre-booking essential.

22 Tewkesbury Classic Vehicle Festival – Over 1,000 cars and 200 motorcycles are expected at this family event, which will also feature market stalls and live music.

27-29 Carfest South – The southern version of Chris Evans' motoring jamboree will see some weird and wonderful wheels sharing the limelight with musical artists Rick Astley, James Blunt and The Magic Numbers.

27-29 British Grand Prix MotoGP – The prestigious motorcycle-racing event is back in Britain for the first time in two years. A rip-roaring treat for all ages.

30 Cowley Classic Car Show – This bank holiday bonanza in aid of charity features a convoy of classic vehicles, competitions, trade stalls and a lot more besides.

Motor shows in September

1-4 Salon Privé– Described as “the UK's most exceptional concours d'elégance”, this event will motoring fans the chance to admire some of the world's finest cars, meet the manufacturers and even take a test drive or two.

3-5 Concours of Elegance – A treat for motoring buffs, this event will showcase 60 of the world's rarest cars, many of which will have never been seen in the UK.

4 & 5 International Autojumble – This massive event has been described as “the biggest outdoor sale of motoring items this side of the Atlantic”.

11 & 12 Classic Car Extravaganza Isle of Wight– Now in its 19th year, this event typically sees a wide range of motor vehicles lining up along the seafront.

17-19 The Goodwood Revival– Experience the glamour of bygone motor-racing at this unique retro festival, filled with vintage speedsters and period dress.

18 Sidmouth Classic Car Show – As well as the stunning display of pre-2001 vehicles, visitors will be able to enjoy live jazz, cream teas and local ales.

19 Gravity– Now in its fifth year, Gravity is one of the largest modified motor shows in the UK. Expect classic cars, custom bikes, racing vehicles and much more.

19 Hinckley Classic Car Show– Whether you're exhibiting your vehicle (pre-registration only) or coming to enjoy the classic cars, kids' entertainment and general conviviality, you're sure to have an amazing time.
