Waterfalls in the mystical Brecon Beacons

Brecon Beacons waterfall walk

Ystradfellte is a small village in the Fforest Fawr area of the Brecon Beacons National Park, famous for its hills, waterfalls and caves. The lush green wooded valleys here are picturesque and a contrast to the mountainous north. It’s also near the starting point for a walk that takes in four beautiful waterfalls – just pack your wet weather gear, a flask of hot chocolate and a map of the route and head there for a scenic ramble that should take nearly two hours. After completing it, you could have a meal at the nearby Red Lion Inn, The Old White Horse Inn, or the Pen y Cae Inn, which has its own micro zoo with meerkats, wallabies and pygmy goats among other animals. You can find out more about how to start walking with our handy guide.

Tintagel Castle in Cornwall: day out with English Heritage
