About the Haunted London Tour

Travel back in time and step on board a vintage open-top, double-decker bus for a trip through the dark and haunted streets of London.

Visit the home of the Cock Lane ghost as you walk through the deserted Smithfield market. Then retrace the murder sites of Jack the Ripper before heading back to the safety of the Sherlock Holmes pub.

You’ll hear tales of the legends buried at Westminster Abbey and visit the banqueting hall where Charles I was beheaded. An expert guide will explain how executioners worked in front of large crowds at Tower Hill. The next stop will be the Old Bailey, the site of many public hangings. You’ll then stop off at the Royal London Hospital, home of the elephant man, and listen to tales of Mrs Lovett’s pie shop and her speciality fillings supplied by the butcherous barber next door.

Ghost walk through Smithfield Market

Stay close to your guide as you walk through an empty Smithfield market. Watch out for the William Wallace plaque, which marks the spot where Braveheart was tortured. Learn about the 19th century body snatchers, who dug up cemeteries ‘in the interest of science’. Then if you’re still feeling brave, listen out for the scratching sounds of Fanny Lynes, the Cock Lane ghost. You’ll hear true, 250-year-old stories of death, sex, loan sharking, poisoning and seances.

Jack the Ripper

The horror doesn’t stop there. Soon you’ll approach London’s East End, an area rife in crime in the 19th century. In 1888, terror struck as Jack the Ripper roamed the streets to stalk and murder his five victims. Here you will leave the safety of the bus to follow his trail on foot and inspect the murder sites of a case that still remains unsolved.

Fancy a nightcap?

The tour ends in the warmth of the Sherlock Holmes pub, close to Trafalgar Square, and home to a large collection of investigators’ memorabilia. If you’ve regained your appetite after this grisly tour, the pub also offers a wide variety of meals.
