The blooming tulip fields at Keukenhof Gardens in Holland are a sight to behold. We’re offering a relaxing mini cruise to Holland, followed by a trip to these mesmerising bulb fields. Once a modest herb garden, Keukenhof Gardens is now where the Dutch bulb-growing industry stages its annual riot of colour, attracting thousands of visitors. Each year, seven million bulbs are planted across 70 acres, blooming into a kaleidoscopic display in May.
Arrive in Hull and board P&O’s Pride of Rotterdam for your overnight cruise to Holland. A five-course buffet dinner will be served in The Kitchen restaurant.
Once you’ve docked at Rotterdam and enjoyed a buffet breakfast, you’ll board the coach and head for the famous Keukenhof Gardens to experience one of the world’s finest flower displays (around an hour, depending on traffic). Return to ship for a five-course dinner.
After a relaxing overnight cruise back to Hull, you’ll enjoy a buffet breakfast before continuing your journey home.
Around Keukenhof Gardens
Located in Lisse in the Netherlands, Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens and is open for just eight weeks each year, during which time it attracts around one million visitors.
The gardeners work hard to create new and interesting themes each year. And there are long-established areas, too, like the English Landscape Garden, planted in 1830 and featuring a winding path and ‘secret’ nooks and crannies. The Historical Garden showcases many old bulb varieties, and the Japanese Garden has a non-traditional, enchanted feel, combining shrubs and perennials with bulbs.
Many people arrive expecting to see huge fields of uniform tulip rows, but these producer gardens are mostly privately owned and are outside Keukenhof.
£147 per person based on half-board twin-berth inside cabin (bunks). Cabin upgrades available. Single supplement available at £30.
Transport is not included to or from Hull on Day 1 or Day 3.
• Car park at port from £7 per 24-hour period
• Taxis from Hull railway station to the port cost around £8
For anyone with restricted walking, P&O staff will be happy to help transfer you on and off the ship. At Keukenhof Gardens, most of the walking areas are flat, with some slight slopes. Wheelchairs can be provided on request (must be booked in advance).
