Not only is the location unique but the hotel has a lot to offer, enjoy a varied menu sourced from the local produce in the restaurant and some nightly entertainment.
After breakfast your days will be free for you to enjoy the many attractions that are within easy reach of your hotel. Immerse yourself in the history of the area with a visit to Holker Hall & Gardens, home to the Cavendish Family and only a short distance from Grange-over-Sands, or perhaps venture slightly further afield to Sizergh Castle & Gardens a beautiful National Trust property which has been home to the Strickland family for more than 750 years.
If transport is more your thing, then why not do a day trip to the Lakeland Motor Museum which is home to a unique collection of 30,000 exhibits, including full size replicas of Donald Campbell's "Bluebird" car that broke the world land speed record in 1935, and the famous "Bluebird" jet hydroplane in which he was killed on Coniston Water in 1967. There's also the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, from which you can enjoy beautiful views up to Lakeside at the southern tip of Lake Windermere and from there continue aboard a Windermere steamer on the lake to Bowness and Ambleside. If you fancy purely cruising, then hop aboard the Ullswater Cruise where you'll be treated to beauitful views of the Lakeland's highest mountains.
Of course you could not visit the Lake District without exploring some of the beautiful near by towns of the fabulous Lake District National Park. Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick has some of the finest scenery and walking opportunities that you will ever experience.
Also definitely worth a visit are Cartwell, the home of the original sticky toffee pudding & Cartmell Horse Racing. or the Beatrix Potter Gallery. There's so much to do and see, the only problem will be trying to squeeze it all in!
