Why not come and join us as we explore this ancient city . The river Ouse passes through the centre of the city and provides a waterway to travel and investigate further.
The city itself is full of adventure starting with the National Railway museum which is just a short walk from the centre of the city which is surrounded by ancient walls. Walking the wall is a good way to see the city, especially from its heights.
In its time York has had many visitors including the Romans and the Vikings and the city has been modeled by these visitors. In the centre there is the beautiful York Minster. A few years ago the roof was damaged by fire as the result of a lightning strike. Go and see the wonderful restoration which has taken place.
A short meander from the Minster there is the central market and shopping area where if you search you can find the famous “Shambles” the named shopping lane. Further on there is the Jorvic Viking Centre. The York Castle Museum is well worth a visit. If you like art you can visit the York Art Gallery with paintings by L S Lowery, Turner and Hockney. Plus many more exciting places to visit so a good place to start is the Tourist information centre which is well sign posted in the centre of York.
