1.30pm to 4.30pm, Tuesday 2 April 2019
Come and join the Farnborough Group in a visit to two of the historic wind tunnels that were part of RAE Farnborough.
On this visit we will be given a guided tour of the 4ft by 3ft tunnel and the 24 ft low speed tunnel. It is hoped that the guides will include individuals who were actively involved in the design and use of the wind tunnels which will give you the opportunity to find out lots of additional information about these facilities.
The tour will commence at 2pm and finish at about 16.30. However, attendees are requested to arrive a little earlier especially if parking at the FAST Museum.
Why not combine the wind tunnels tour with a visit to the FAST Museum (Free entry) followed by tea/coffee and cake at the FAST café or perhaps enjoy lunch at a nearby pub? There is much to see at the FAST museum which opens at 10am.
There is ample free parking beside the 24ft tunnel (the building with the clock on top) and also at the FAST museum itself. Additional instructions on getting to the tunnel site will be given in advance of the visit.
Numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Payment in advance, on confirmation of places, will be required.
As well as suitable footwear (e. g. walking shoe)
The cost of the guided tour is £15 per person
£25 per couples / trainers) it is advisable to wear warm clothing as it is usually chilly in the 24ft tunnel!.
