Discover Greater Manchester’s contemporary waterfront destination – SALFORD QUAYS which is home to some of the most spectacular attractions and iconic buildings in the UK.
There is plenty to see and do. Once you arrive at Salford Quays your time is your own to do whatever you please. For your convenience I have listed some of the attractions which are available for you to visit or book in advance.
The Lowry – is an arts and entertainments complex which houses three theatres. The Lowry main gallery cares for the largest public collection of JS Lowry’s work, and it is shown alongside important loans from private and public lenders around the country in a permanent exhibition, Lowry Favourites. In addition, Meet Mr Lowry, a fascinating subtitled 20 minute film about the artist is shown throughout the day and there are free LS Lowry ten minute talks every day at 12pm and 2pm. Tours are also available at certain time during the day.
Or - why not take a tour of the studios at The BBC at MediaCityUK, and walk in the footsteps of your favourite celebrities! We would not arrive in time for the morning tours but there is a tour at 3.15pm and lasts for 1.5 hours, so in time to board the coach at 5.30pm. The cost is £13 for adults, £12 for concessions, £8 for children with a family ticket for £38. You can book tickets in advance online.
Also, ITV have opened their outdoor Coronation Street sets at MediaCityUK to the public, including the world-famous cobbled street. The experience lasts around 80 minutes taking in Coronation Street, Rosamund Street and the newly extended Victoria Street, with plenty of opportunities for photos. Visitors will walk in the footsteps of the famous residents, discover filming secrets and hear stories of their favourite characters. Tours are only available on selected weekends during the year and Saturday 22nd June is one of the days available. Tickets are from £35 per person and are limited.
