7.45pm to 9.45pm, Tuesday 12 November 2019
Our clubnight speaker this month is Dr Helen Fry, historian, biographer and author of more than twenty books.
Her books focus largely on intelligence, prisoners of war and the social history of the Second World War, and she has appeared several times on television in historical documentaries. We will learn about the Secret Listeners who were employed at Trent Park, North London, to listen in to the conversations of high-ranking German Prisoners of War. Their work at Trent Park has now been recognised by Historic England as 'of national and international significance on a par with Bletchley Park'.
A most accomplished speaker with many anecdotes from her research straight from the de-classified files. Not to be missed.
