About the Event

10.45pm to 1pm, Saturday 11 August 2018

The 17th Century fort dominates the eastern end of Plymouth Hoe and was built to defend the coast from the Dutch.

Charles the Second gave orders to turn some of the fort's guns towards the town to intimidate the locals who supported the Parliamentarians during the Civil War.

It is now the home of 29 Commando Royal Artillery so parts of it will not be open to the public but there is still plenty to see, including fantastic views over Plymouth Hoe and the Sound. We will meet at 10.45am by the Marine Memorial outside the Main Gate at the Citadel.
