Join us on Saturday 23 May at the oldest RHS garden in the UK for a fantastic day out with Boundless! With 240 acres to explore, a day at Wisley makes the perfect trip for you, your friends and family, whether you’re a hands-on gardener or just want to enjoy the beauty of one of the world’s finest gardens.
Founded over 100 years ago, Wisley is made up of a number of individual gardens that combine to give visitors a wonderful overall experience. Stroll through majestic borders, rolling lawns, a fabulous rock garden, extensive fruit and vegetable fields, a vineyard, the Jubilee Arboretum and a magnificent lakeside tropical glasshouse, showcasing plants from three climatic zones. You’ll pick your own highlights, of course, but one thing not to miss is the fabulous Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden, featuring over 4000 beautiful rose varieties.
With one of the largest plant collections in the world and many cultivated plants of national significance, Wisley’s plants and planting schemes are constantly being updated, so there’s always something new to see. The garden is famous for its spring displays, when huge collections of magnolias and rhododendrons bring a sea of colour to the woodland gardens, and innumerable bulbs carpet the lawns and borders. Even better, May is the perfect time to marvel at displays of early roses, which are expected be in full flower when we visit.
You’ll also have a chance to see some of the garden’s iconic wisteria in bloom, both adorning the walls of the historic laboratory building and along the new 75m Wisteria Walk.
Wisley is perfect for families, too. The sheer size of the place means there’s no end of areas to explore and things to discover. There are all sorts of family trails you can find out about right at the garden entrance, and bags of information on the most interesting things to look out for and the fun activities you can find throughout the garden.
