What’s involved?

Purpose of the role:

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of our commercial contracts with third parties and related policies.


Main responsibilities:

  • Review, amend, draft and negotiate commercial contracts.
  • Advise on our commercial contracts.
  • Take an active role in business meetings as required.
  • Engage relevant stakeholders in contract negotiations and decision-making.
  • Monitor and review our standard terms and associated policies (including our data protection policies).
  • Identify areas of improvement in our commercial deals, our contracting process and contractual documentation.
  • Provide contract administration support (e.g. notices, letters, claims, and contract variation paperwork).
  • Review contractual performance to ensure compliance with terms and to identify possible changes for discussion at contract renewal (if relevant).
  • Ensure that commercial risks are identified, understood, and managed at all stages of contract management.
  • Advise on contractual disputes and resolution.
  • Establish and maintain a contracts database (including hard copy files).
  • Liaise with our external advisers.
  • Provide training to colleagues on contract issues.

What will make you successful?

Key knowledge:

  • Strong academic background.
  • Good understanding of contract law.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Able to provide guidance on contract wording / interpretation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Able to advise on data protection issues arising in relation to our commercial contracts.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Able to build relationships with others and work in cheerful collaboration with a broad range of people.
  • Good IT skills.
