About this event

Join us for a fascinating online talk as we mark the 90th anniversary of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire’s first flight.

Writer Nick Oram brings the story of Spitfire NH341, Elizabeth, to life, sharing the remarkable history of this historic aircraft and the people who flew it.

Originally assigned to 411 Squadron, Elizabeth was piloted by nine Canadian airmen during missions over England and Normandy in the Second World War. Shot down in July 1944, the aircraft was eventually fully restored in 2015.

During this engaging talk, you’ll hear powerful first-hand accounts through rare testimonies and archive TV interviews with several of the plane’s pilots. It’s a unique chance to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and what life in the air was really like during wartime.

There will also be a special giveaway on the night exclusively for Boundless members.
