About this event

The sinking of RMS Titanic is one of the most famous maritime disasters in history. For many, the story is familiar: the largest and most luxurious ship of her time, celebrated as practically unsinkable, struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage and went down in the early hours of 15 April 1912, taking nearly 1,500 lives with her. Yet behind this well known narrative lies a far richer and more complex human story.

This talk explores the extraordinary moments—both tragic and miraculous—that shaped the Titanic’s legacy. It is a tale woven with acts of immense courage, incredible strokes of luck, heartbreaking loss, and coincidences so uncanny they continue to fascinate more than a century later.

Join historian Andy Skinner for a compelling journey into the world of the Titanic, uncovering the stories, surprising connections, and lasting impact of the most iconic shipwreck the world has ever known.
