Organising an event for other Boundless members. Whether it’s a cycle trip, a Sunday stroll or just afternoon tea, get in touch and let us know what you’d like to do. We’ll support you along the way with any help you need, including giving you training where you need it and reimbursing out-of-pocket expenses

We’ll keep you updated on our upcoming events and how you can help us by volunteering at them.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering might be something that many of us have considered in our lives, but never got around to actually doing. So here are some reasons why you should think about getting involved.

1. Meeting new people

If you’re new to an area or if you just want to extend your social circle, volunteering will help you make new friends. It can make you feel part of the community and gives you the chance to meet a variety of people from all walks of life.

2. Learning new skills

Volunteering allows you to learn new skills in your own time that you might not pick up elsewhere. By embracing new situations and new environments, you’ll be taking yourself out of your comfort zone and will come away from your experience richer and armed with new skills that are bound to be useful in other areas of your life. It can also make you more employable and demonstrates commitment.

3. Keeping your mind active

We can lose our sharpness when we’re doing the same thing with the same people day after day, so getting out and about helps you feel younger and more engaged with the world around you. A new academic study suggests that volunteering at least one hour per week can also substantially reduce the risk of older people developing dementia. Meeting new people, acquiring new skills, taking on new tasks – there’s a lot to keep the mind nimble when you volunteer.

4. A sense of well-being

Volunteering boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Helping others and your community gives you a sense of pride and identity – and the better you feel about yourself, the better equipped you are to achieve other goals in your life. A satisfying life depends on trying new things and seeking out new experiences. It also helps relieve stress and staves off depression.

5. Share your passion

Have a love of cycling, reading, travel, coffee and cakes? There’s nothing better than sharing the things you enjoy with other people who feel the same way. Our funding opportunities will give you the chance to take your hobbies and interests to places you may not have considered before, to a level you may not have thought possible, and help you build a community of people who are just as enthusiastic as you.

What events can you get involved with?

We’d like to hear about any events you’d be interested in taking part in, whether it’s a day out at a place of interest or a group walk around the local area for members.

Who can volunteer to run an event?

Being able to run an event with support from Boundless is one of the great benefits of being a member, and a fantastic way to meet other Boundless members near you.

Who can attend an event?

All members are also welcome to invite a guest to any event, so let’s get more people involved!

Supporting our volunteers

Throughout your volunteering journey we’ll be on hand to support you, with whatever level of help you need.

We provide funding to help support any appropriate events and also any relevant training (where we can) to help you make the most of your experience.

All out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed for our volunteers at the agreed Boundless rates. This includes mileage allowances for travel to and from events, including any additional journeys that may be required in the organising of an event. We’ll also reimburse you for any admission charges or administration costs incurred. We’ll even subsidise food and drink (at the agreed rates) while you’re volunteering with Boundless!

We’ll also provide promotion for your event to members in the local area through emails and the magazine. It’s a great way to bring together members and build new friendships.
