You probably haven’t heard of her, but Virginia Hall changed the course of the Second World War. Born in Baltimore, Virginia worked as a British spy deep behind enemy lines in France, organising resistance fighters and undermining the German occupation. Eventually her cover was blown and, despite a significant physical disability, she made a dramatic escape across the Pyrenees to Spain.
