About the talkJoin fellow Boundless members this September for a fascinating evening exploring the story of Concorde with someone who experienced its development firsthand. Our guest speaker, Dr Chris Coote, spent 10 years as an accountant working on the design, development and flight testing of Concorde, the world's fastest passenger aircraft. A revolutionary Anglo-French supersonic airliner, Concorde became an icon of aviation with its distinctive delta wings, drooping nose and ability to cross the Atlantic in around half the time of conventional airliners by cruising at Mach 2, twice the speed of sound. Flying from 1976 to 2003, Concorde offered an unrivalled luxury travel experience for a select number of passengers. Powered by four Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus engines with afterburners for take-off and acceleration through the sound barrier, it represented the pinnacle of engineering and innovation, although its high operating costs ultimately limited its commercial success. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply curious about one of the most remarkable aircraft ever built, everyone is welcome to this fascinating talk. |

Do I have to join this social local group to attend the event?
Any Boundless member can attend events hosted by any group, wherever they’re based.

I’ve never been to a social event before, what can I expect?
Social events are a relaxed and friendly way for Boundless members to come together, meet new people and enjoy shared interests.
Activities vary from group to group and can include anything from a museum visit or pub lunch to a guest speaker talk or games night. Groups are always pleased to welcome new faces.
Can I bring a guest with me to the event?
In most cases, yes. Guests are welcome at social events, as long as one person attending is a Boundless member.
There may be occasional exceptions, it’s always best to reach out and ask. You can used the contact details on the group’s home page or in the ‘How to book’ section of the event page.
Is there a cost to attend?
This depends on the event. Many social events are free, particularly those held at local venues. Some events, such as trips or special activities, may have a cost, but you may also be able to take advantage of exclusive Boundless member discounts.
Can I organise or help at a social event?
Yes – we’d love that! We are always looking for new volunteers to help create moments for members. It’s best to complete our volunteer interest form so we can get in touch and chat about opportunities.
