Easter egg hunt ideas

To add an extra twist to your Easter egg hunt, start by choosing a theme. From scavenger-style challenges to the classic egg hunt, there are plenty of affordable and easy ways to add excitement to your hunt.

Depending on the spring weather, eggs can be scattered around the garden or hidden indoors, and to keep things fair, and ensure everyone ends up with an equal haul, add name tags to each egg. For younger children,  a nice idea is to turn it into a colour-themed challenge, with hunters searching only for eggs in a specific shade. As an alternative to traditional chocolate eggs, try using wooden or plastic eggs which can be reused each year.

Create a scavenger hunt

For a fun, creative twist, turn the classic egg hunt into a scavenger hunt, where participants search for and tick off a list of items to earn an eggy prize. Get the kids involved by adding playful challenges to each egg, such as doing a silly dance, singing a song, hopping like a bunny or answering an easy quiz question.

Plan your hiding spots carefully, making sure they’re suitable for all ages (and heights!) taking part. A clear, well-thought-out trail will keep the excitement building from start to finish. Hiding little fluffy Easter chicks with the clues is a sweet alternative to traditional chocolate eggs.

Set photo clues

For something a little different again, take close-up photos of the eggs in their hiding spots, revealing just a hint of their surroundings, and challenge hunters to match each image to the right location.
