There are five big new films in the cinema this Christmas, with something for all the family.
Frozen 2 is the sequel to Disney/Pixar’s 2013 blockbuster, as Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven go beyond the borders of Arendelle to explore the source of Elsa’s powers. It’s sure to capture the imaginations of young viewers, as well as their parents and grandparents…
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the four young game-players travel from deserts to mountains; this time their mission is to rescue one of their friends, and they’re joined in the cast by Danny Glover and Danny DeVito.

Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker is the culmination of the Luke Skywalker storyline that began in /A New Hope/ in the late 1970s. It’s the final battle for Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron, directed by JJ Abrams.
Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s long-running musical Cats comes to the big screen this winter, with famous faces including Judi Dench, Taylor Swift and Idris Elba transformed through CGI into Old Deuteronomy, Bombalurina and Macavity.
And last but not least, another adaptation, this time from Louise May Alcott’s novel, Little Women. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson and Meryl Streep, director Greta Gerwig puts a new spin on the classic story, through flashbacks from the adult sisters’ formative years.

Also back in the cinema this Christmas is a re-release of The Muppet Christmas Carol, shown in Cineworld, Everyman, Picture House and Curzon cinemas.
And still showing is Last Christmas, featuring the music of George Michael and Wham!. Emilia Clarke plays Kate, working as an elf in London at Christmas who meets a charming stranger and opens her eyes to the magic of the festive period.
