About the tripJoin fellow Boundless members for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon boat trip aboard the Rose of Hungerford, cruising through the beautiful Berkshire countryside to Wire Lock. We will meet at 2:10 pm for a prompt 2:30 pm departure from Hungerford Wharf, and we look forward to welcoming you on board for this scenic 2.5 hour return journey. Travelling east along the canal, we will pass beneath classic canal bridges while following the River Dun, with its many fish farms and views across the lovely Hungerford Port Down. Along the route, we will see Dun Mill Lock and one of the famous fortified World War II pill boxes, once part of the canal defence line manned by the Home Guard. Beyond the lock, the River Dun joins the beautiful chalk stream River Kennet as the journey continues through the peaceful river valley towards Wire Lock. Subject to conditions on the day, passengers may have the opportunity to disembark briefly at Wire Lock to stretch their legs, admire the views, and, under the supervision of the crew, even help operate the lock gates and paddles. The boat will then turn below the lock before returning everyone safely to the Wharf. A licensed bar on board will provide snacks and refreshments throughout the trip. Dogs may be accepted at the discretion of the skipper on the day, subject to agreement from other passengers. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. A wheelchair lift is available for passengers unable to board via the steps, although it can only accommodate self propelled wheelchairs and not electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Everyone is welcome to join us for what promises to be a fun, scenic, and memorable afternoon on the water. |

This depends on the event. Many social events are free, particularly those held at local venues. Some events, such as trips or special activities, may have a cost, but you may also be able to take advantage of exclusive Boundless member discounts.
