About the rally

Thursday 29 April - Thursday 6 May 2027

Join fellow Boundless members over the May Day Bank Holiday for a relaxing and enjoyable break at Victoria Park, ideally located in the heart of the traditional seaside town of Southport. The park is just a short 5–10 minute walk from the town’s main attractions, with a large supermarket conveniently situated directly opposite the site.

Southport offers something for everyone, from its classic seaside charm and elegant Victorian architecture to its lively cafés, restaurants and shopping areas. The rally itself will be largely free and easy, giving members plenty of opportunity to explore at their own pace, while also enjoying the usual coffee mornings, quizzes and friendly social gatherings throughout the weekend.

Subject to interest, we are also hoping to organise a Friday evening fish and chip supper at a nearby restaurant, a brunch outing to Ginger’s on Lord Street, and a traditional Sunday lunch. If you would like to take part in any of these, please indicate your interest when booking.

There is no shortage of attractions nearby. Southport is home to bars, restaurants, independent shops and family attractions including Adventure Coast funfair, the Marine Lake with its water activities, Dunes Splashworld and swimming baths. For something a little different, you may even wish to visit the country’s only lawnmower museum. A stroll along the famous Lord Street boulevard offers further opportunities to explore its many shops, cafés and the Atkinson Museum and Art Gallery, while the Market food hub provides flavours and street food from around the world.

Nature lovers and walkers are also well catered for, with several attractive parks nearby, including the beautiful Botanic Gardens in the charming village of Churchtown. The fashionable village of Birkdale is also close by, offering a wide selection of independent cafés, bars and restaurants.

Excellent bus and rail connections make it easy to venture further afield during your stay. Nearby highlights include the National Trust pinewoods at Formby, where red squirrels can often be spotted, Antony Gormley’s famous “Another Place” sculptures at Crosby Beach, and the vibrant city of Liverpool itself. Other attractions within easy reach include Martin Mere WWT Centre, Marshside RSPB Reserve and Rufford Old Hall alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Whether you prefer a quiet stroll, a seaside break, wildlife and nature, or simply spending time with fellow members, this promises to be a wonderfully relaxed and enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend away.
