About the breakMonday 3 - Friday 7 August 2026Nestled in the picturesque County Durham, the 4-star Redworth Hall Hotel is a stunning 17th-century Jacobean manor, blending historic charm with modern luxury. Surrounded by 26 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and woodland, the hotel makes the perfect base for exploring County Durham and beyond. What's includedIncluded in this break are three-course, three-choice dinners with coffee each night and a Gala dinner with a Buck's Fizz reception on the last evening, plus breakfast each morning. You will also receive a welcome drink at the welcome reception. |
What to do in the local areaCounty Durham offers a plethora of activities and sights for everyone to enjoy. Head to Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here, you can marvel at the stunning architecture and take insightful guided tours. Alternatively, take a trip back in time at Beamish Museum. This world-famous living museum showcases life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s, and 1950s, providing an immersive historical experience. Nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy in County Durham. The Durham Botanic Garden, located on the Durham University campus, offers a tranquil escape with its diverse plant collections from around the world. High Force Waterfall, one of England’s most spectacular waterfalls, is situated in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and makes for a breathtaking visit. Hardwick Park is another beautiful spot, perfect for a relaxing day out with its walking trails, lake, and visitor centre. For those interested in history and culture, the historic market town of Barnard Castle is a perfect day out. Explore the castle ruins (English Heritage) and visit the Bowes Museum, which houses an impressive art collection. The Locomotion Museum in Shildon provides a fascinating look into the history of railways with its vast collection of locomotives and artifacts. Finally, the medieval Raby Castle, Park, and Gardens (Historic Houses) is a fantastic day out for everyone. Built in the 14th century by the Neville family, it was the scene of the plotting of the Rising of the North and a Parliamentary stronghold during the Civil War. The scenic beauty of Durham Heritage Coast and the Durham Dales is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy a coastal walk along the dramatic cliffs and beaches of the Heritage Coast or explore the picturesque landscapes of the Dales through hiking and cycling. Auckland Castle, once the palace of the Prince Bishops of Durham, is another historical gem, offering rich history and beautiful surroundings. Additionally, the summer brings various food and drink festivals that showcase the best of regional produce. For a relaxing day by the sea, Seaham Beach is ideal, known for its sea glass and charming seaside town atmosphere. Alternatively, head to Hartlepool to visit one of its many beaches. Lastly, Crook Hall and Gardens (National Trust) host special summer events and activities, making it a delightful stop for families and garden enthusiasts alike. Attractions you can visit
About the hotelGuests have free use of the Retreat Leisure Facilities, including the gym. Any beauty treatments must be booked and paid for in advance. Pool access is available from 2pm on the day of arrival until 11am on the day of departure. Free porterage is available throughout the break, and parking is also free of charge. There are a limited number of accessible rooms available on a first come basis, so please ensure to inform the hotel of any special requests upon booking. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant, and owners should enquire which areas of the lounges are suitable to eat with dogs present. There are also a few pet-friendly rooms available and if you require one, please mention this when making your booking. Dogs and pets incur a nightly charge of £25. Social breaks are a relaxed and friendly way for Boundless members to come together, meet new people and visit new places. Activities vary from break to break and can include anything from a museum or garden visit, to activities at the hotel or just enjoying your free time. Groups are always pleased to welcome new faces.
Our social breaks are not guided, but we always have a volunteer host who is there to help with any questions you have, ensure you're comfortable and help to bring people together.
Yes! Many of our members attend the breaks alone. It is a great opportunity to meet like minded people and socialise in a warm and inviting environment.
In most cases, yes. Guests are welcome at social events, as long as one person attending is a Boundless member. There may be occasional exceptions, it’s always best to reach out and ask. You can used the contact details on the group’s home page or in the ‘How to book’ section of the event page.
