About this event
Join us for a fascinating and moving exploration of the personal stories behind wartime history with historian and author Tessa Dunlop.
When we think about war, we often remember the battles, the famous names and the events that shaped history. But behind these stories were ordinary people whose lives, relationships and futures were changed forever.
In this special online event, Tessa Dunlop takes us beyond the battlefield to explore the powerful human stories of love, loss, separation, courage and hope.
What did it mean to fall in love during wartime? How did couples keep their relationships alive when separated for months or even years? And how did families cope with the uncertainty of waiting for news from loved ones?
Through remarkable real-life stories, Tessa will reveal the deeply personal side of wartime history, from romances and heartfelt letters to stories of sacrifice, heartbreak and extraordinary resilience.
She will uncover the people behind the history and explore how moments of conflict shaped relationships and changed the course of ordinary lives. These are stories that bring history to life and offer a very different perspective on the wars we think we know.
Expect fascinating characters, surprising stories and an engaging look at the human experiences that can sometimes become lost amongst the bigger events of history.
Whether you have a passion for history or simply enjoy discovering the stories of the people who lived through it, this promises to be a fascinating and thought-provoking Boundless event.
