About the event

7pm to 9.30pm, Thursday 13 November 2025

Join the Swindon Group this November for an insightful talk by Kindra Faulks.

Kindra is a professional historian, author and presenter. Her experience includes fifteen years of working in heritage venues around the UK and abroad.

The Bayeux Tapestry is a uniquely historical and artistic masterpiece. This 11th-century embroidery depicts the conquest of England over almost 70 meters. After giving an overview of the piece and some of the characters and the scenes depicted within it, Kindra will bring the 'tapestry' to life, delving deeper within this epic work to uncover its mysteries and revealing some unlikely surprises hidden within its stitches.

Kindra promises to deliver a lively talk showcasing her obvious enthusiasm for her subject backed up by fascinating examples. The well-researched overview of the Bayeux Tapestry will raise interesting questions about the finer details of our long-accepted perceptions of this epic battle, leaving it to the audience to decide whether or not the facts contained therein can be taken at face value or whether they have been altered in the telling of the story.
