Step back in time for a day of history, engineering and adventure

Didcot Railway Centre is a great day out whether you are coming with children or visiting on your own. It is lively interesting and full of things to see and do.

For families there is plenty to keep kids busy. Children can climb aboard real trains take unlimited rides on two working railway lines and pull levers in the signalling centre. There is lots of space to explore and something happening wherever you turn.

For adults and railway fans this is a proper working heritage site. Spread across 24 acres it is home to the largest collection of Great Western Railway artefacts anywhere in the world. You can walk through the original 1932 engine shed get up close to historic locomotives and see how the railway really worked.

There are moments everyone enjoys. You can go underground into a wartime shelter built to protect railway workers during air raids. You can see Brunel’s broad gauge track and learn how it changed rail travel. You can wander through displays that show how the railway shaped everyday life not just transport.

When it is time to slow down grab a coffee sit in the picnic area and watch the trains go by. Whether you are visiting with kids meeting friends or following a lifelong interest in railways Didcot Railway Centre is a place you can enjoy at your own pace.

Ticket Details

  • Adults (18 and over): £9.00 (Save £9.50 per ticket)
  • Children (4–17): £5.00 (Save £6.00 per ticket)
  • Infants aged 3 and under: free of charge

That’s a 55% saving for both adults and children compared to public gate prices.

For a family of five made up of two adults and three children the total saving is £37.00.

Tickets are limited and Didcot Railway Centre is always popular. Boundless subsidises tickets through its non profit model so members enjoy strong value on a full day out.

These tickets do not receive the full Boundless subsidy but still offer good value compared to public gate prices. All additional tickets must be booked in advance and availability is limited.

Once inside you are free to explore at your own pace. Train rides exhibitions workshops and outdoor areas are all included.

Boundless members can book up to five subsidised tickets per membership. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be available on the day.

This event is exclusive to Boundless members and the booking member must attend with their guests. Membership card and photo ID may be requested on arrival.
