Happy Travels - expert ideas for life-enhancing and great-value holidays in the year ahead

Words from Gerard O’Sullivan, Association Chair

Happy New Year! I’m delighted to welcome you to your first members’ magazine of 2024, and my first as Association Chair.

Boundless has had a magazine in one guise or another since 1927

(when it was known as the CSMA Gazette), and it has evolved continuously over the years to reflect changing times and our members’ needs.* In our most recent member survey, we were pleased to see you gave this current incarnation a thumbs up, with 87% of you reading most issues, lots of you showing interest in our always-lively letters pages, and offering particular praise for the photography and design. Many of you also asked us for more articles on UK travel, which we’ll be addressing in future editions.

This issue, though, is about travel in the broadest way – from off-grid campervanning adventures in Exmoor (page 76) to hi-tech journeys of discovery in Japan (page 68). As ever, we aim to offer you expert insight (read Simon Calder’s travel trends on page 44) as well as ways to save money (you might find yourself booking an airport lounge after reading our article on page 92). At Boundless, we have another busy programme of social breaks and member events for you to enjoy this year. And we know how many of you love cars and motoring – so feast your eyes on a selection of Europe’s greatest driving breaks on page 50.

Whatever catches your eye, I hope this issue will give you plenty of ideas to start planning some exciting trips and days out in the year ahead. Happy travels, and the very best for 2024.
