Join the Camping & Caravanning Group for an eight-night rally at the beautiful Carsington Water – a peaceful, man-made reservoir nestled in the Derbyshire countryside. Whether you are craving adventure or seeking relaxation, this location offers the perfect setting for both.
Enjoy walking or cycling along the well-maintained, 8.5-mile path that circles the reservoir, complete with scenic viewpoints, bird hides, and an abundance of wildlife. The area is also home to the Midlands’ premier Brown Trout fishing lake – boats are available to hire from the visitor centre.
Beyond the reservoir, explore the nearby market towns of Ashbourne and Matlock, both known for their charm and character. Do not miss the opportunity to visit the traditional Tissington Well Dressings if your stay coincides – a unique and picturesque local event.
The on-site Visitor Centre provides fascinating insights into the reservoir’s history and water use, and features a café with views over the water, a collection of shops, and an on-site Boules competition.
There’s an excellent on-site dog walking field, perfect for your four-legged companions, and for those looking to enjoy a local pint or a meal out, the Barley Mow Pub is just a five-minute drive or a scenic 30-minute walk away.
