Weekend break in the Yorkshire Dales: Skipton Castle

Camping and Caravanning Group

About the rally

Friday 26 June - Monday 6 July 2026

  • Scenic location near Skipton and the Dales
  • Tour of Skipton Castle
  • Group activities and socials

Join the Camping & Caravanning Group for their summer rally at the Riverside Campsite.

The site is close to a number of tourist attractions, including Skipton with its castle and the Leeds–Liverpool Canal, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Bolton Abbey, the nearby Embsay & Bolton Abbey heritage railway, and the Settle–Carlisle railway, which offers the opportunity to see steam trains and the Ribblehead Viaduct.

On Sunday 28 June, the annual Sheep Day takes place—a free family event celebrating Skipton’s heritage as a sheep town.

There are regular and popular markets in and around Skipton. The town is a short drive or an eight-minute train journey from Cononley station, which is a half-mile walk from the campsite. Buses also run from the village into town. Canal trips are available from Skipton, and there is excellent walking countryside nearby.

Cononley itself is a small village with a couple of places to eat and drink, as well as a village store.

The site is also close to Bronte country, with Haworth and the Bronte Parsonage Museum less than 10 miles away.

We hope to organise a group visit to Skipton Castle for a guided tour. Other group activities and social events will be arranged throughout the rally.

Dogs are allowed.

All welcome.
