Looking for things to do in October? The good news is that there are hundreds of fantastic days out to choose from, and as a Boundless member you can save money on all of them.
Here, we’ve rounded up our pick of the bunch this month, from Halloween-themed experiences to a new run of Dear England, the wildly entertaining play about football. Where possible, we’ve also indicated how much discount you’ll get as a Boundless member, so you can see exactly how much you’ll save.
1. Enjoy a scary ride
This Halloween, scare yourself silly at the UK’s brilliant theme parks. Whether you choose Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Drayton Manor, you’re guaranteed a frightfully fun day. We’re told that there might even be a few Halloweeen-themed surprises…
As a Boundless member, you’ll get up to 57% off the price of selected theme parks and other attractions through your free Kids Pass subscription, meaning you can save money while you scream.
2. Bake some goodies
Been inspired by The Great British Bake-Off? Well, this year’s National Baking Week takes place between 14 and 20 October, giving you the perfect excuse to put on your oven gloves.
Whether you plan to make your own brownies, buns or loaves, your Boundless membership will enable you to save money when buying the ingredients. With access to discounted gift cards at a range of supermarket chains, you’ll notice a real difference when you get to the checkout. Now, that’s what we call the icing on the cake!
3. Embark on a literary adventure
Since its release in 1989, Michael Rosen’s book We’re Going On A Bear Hunt has been enchanting kids with its colourful imagery and clever wordplay. Well, now, this popular tale is being brought to life at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. In this sensory adventure – launching in time for half-term – you’ll be encouraged to walk through “swishy-swashy” grass and “squelch, squelch” through mud in search of hidden bears.
It promises to be a lot of fun – and, since Boundless members get unlimited free entry to these world-famous gardens for both themselves and up to five children, you needn’t put your hand in your pocket once.
4. Go to the movies
The world’s most famous detective – Hercule Poirot – is back in a new movie, A Haunting in Venice. In this supernatural thriller, the moustachioed sleuth (Kenneth Branagh) must work out who murdered one of the guests at a séance he attended. Can you solve the puzzle before he does?
To find out, book tickets for the film at your local cinema – and don’t forget you can save up to 37% on cinema tickets through Cinema Society with your Boundless membership. You can enjoy price reductions on snacks and drinks, too. There’s nothing to solve about that – it’s a no-brainer!
5. Enjoy some scary thrills
As you’re no doubt aware, it’s Halloween this month – and what better way to celebrate than with a visit to one of the Dungeons? There are six dungeons throughout the UK, including the original – the London Dungeon, an award-winning attraction, where you take an immersive 90-minute walk through London’s murky past, meeting such heinous characters as Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd. With 16 different shows to enjoy – all brought to life by professional actors and authentic special effects, you’re sure to have a thrilling time.
6. Work out who done it
Channel your inner Sherlock Holmes by trying to solve a serious crime. Through Virgin Experience Days, you can book a murder-mystery evening for two, where you’ll get to enjoy a delicious three-course dinner while trying to decipher the deadly riddle being played out by professional actors in front of you. Available at 17 locations across the UK, these popular events are always packed with suspense, intrigue… and fun!
These murder mystery evenings usually cost £155 for two. But Boundless members get 20% off the price, meaning you can join in for just £124.
7. Watch a new football play
The beautiful game is brought to the stage in Dear England, showing in London’s West End from October. In this brand-new drama, Hollywood actor Joseph Fiennes portrays England manager Gareth Southgate, a man who’s been tasked with delivering the country’s first major trophy in years. Gripping and moving, it’s a must for football fans.
If you’re a Boundless member, you can save 10% when you buy theatre tickets through TodayTix, meaning you can enjoy this new play at a greatly reduced price. Back of the net!
8. Fulfil your little ones’ fantasies
Whether your child dreams of being a doctor, a dentist or a dancer, you can help them fulfil their fantasy at KidZania. One of London’s most popular kids’ attractions, this indoor ‘city’ gives children aged four to 14 the chance to experience various real-life roles. Not only will they ‘earn’ as they go, they’ll even be able to open their own special bank account – all of which will teach them important life skills.
As a member of Boundless, you’ll get a free subscription to Kids Pass, which will enable you to gain entry to KidZania for up to 36% less than the standard price. Go on, your little ones will thank you for it…
9. Embark on a gin tour
Gin continues to be all the rage, with trendy new brands and bars popping up all the time. If you’re a fan, why not treat yourself to a special gin experience? Through Virgin Experience Days, you can enjoy a tour of the Shakespeare Distillery in Stratford upon Avon, during which you’ll get to see how the popular tipple is made, taste three different types and even create your own gin to take home.
This experience normally costs £138 for two people, but since Boundless members get 20% off Virgin Experience Days, you can enjoy this brilliant day for £110.40. Bottoms up!
