A 15-day adventure to Croatia and Montenegro

With no fewer than four Unesco World Heritage Sites on the itinerary, this tour is popular with those looking for an experience steeped in history.  The adventure begins in Dubrovnik, wandering the narrow streets, palaces and churches within its mighty walls, before tracing the dramatic Adriatic coastline. You’ll stop off at Ston – home to the second-longest defensive walls in the world – before journeying over the magnificent Peljesac Bridge.

A panoramic trip takes you to Split, where you can immerse yourself in the grandeur of Diocletian’s Palace – one of the best-preserved works of Roman architecture still standing. Round off the day with an exploration of the old town of Trogir, and the cosy harbour village Omis, once home to pirates.

Venturing inland into Bosnia and Herzegovina, there’s a visit to the historic walled town of Počitelj (pictured above), the renowned Christian pilgrimage site of Medjugorje, and Trebinje, including the Osman Pasha Mosque.

You’ll then sweep back to the coastline, beginning your time in Montenegro with a stay in popular holiday spot Herceg Novi. Then, enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Bay of Kotor, before strolling through cobblestone streets in the old town of Kotor. In Tivat, marvel at the super-yachts of the rich and famous gracing the glamorous marina of Porto Montenegro.

Then, there’s the opportunity to explore one of the oldest towns in the Mediterranean, Budva, where you can revel in the magic of its famous ballerina statue. You’ll also catch a fantastic glimpse of island village, Sveti Stefan. Conclude your adventure in style with a well-deserved sojourn in a four-star hotel on the wonderful Adriatic coast.

8 days exploring the wonders of Cyprus

This eight-day exploration of Cyprus delves into both the island’s natural and cultural treasures. Explore the labyrinthine streets of Cypriot capital Nicosia, Europe’s last remaining divided capital, beginning with a visit to the splendid Ottoman caravanserai in the northern, Turkish half. You’ll then travel south across the ‘border’, before heading to the fascinating ruined city of Salami and the nearby Monastery of St Barnabas.

A panoramic trip takes you to the untouched part of Northern Cyprus, passing by the picturesque fishing village of Dipkarpaz en route to the fascinating St Andrew’s Monastery. Then, look out for tracks of sea turtles in the sand as you amble along the Golden Beach – perhaps the most beautiful beach in the country. In the port of Famagusta, you’ll delve into the centuries-old handicraft of rug making, before discovering Cyprus’s star attractions on a fascinatingly small scale at a miniature park.

Journeying through the majestic Pentadaktylos mountains, you’ll reach the tranquil, hillside village of Bellapais and its monastery – a stunning example of Gothic architecture, built into the rocks with the help of the knights of the Crusades. You’ll then set off for Kyrenia’s old harbour, where white boats bob peacefully along turquoise waters. Stroll along the promenade to the city’s iconic castle (pictured above), and a shipwreck museum housing the remnants of a Greek merchant ship that date back to the fourth century BC. Finally, wind down with a couple of days of relaxation, be it indulging in a traditional steam bath or watching the world go by from one of Kyrenia’s many charming cafés.

With scores of similarly rich itineraries to choose from, where will you go first?
