About the event
7pm to 9.30pm, Thursday 21 May 2026
Join the Swindon Group for another fascinating talk by David Bailey - Springwatch Wildlife photographer.
This presentation features high quality images with video snippets. Covering the year in the life of the hare. From autumn when the hares lose their summer residences due to the harvest through the depths of winter. Into the excitement of the chase and boxing from February onwards. Close encounters with leverets, hungry hares and those just enduring a bad hare day! Light-hearted but informative including a quiz.
David Bailey is one of the UK’s leading wildlife photographers having won several awards including the Welsh Wildlife Photographic Award in 2011. He was both cameraman and wildlife consultant for the BBC series, Rhys Jones Wildlife Patrol and has made appearances on both the BBC’s Springwatch and ITV’s Coast & Country. He is hugely respected for his enthusiasm and expertise in the field. Such his reputation that he received the Brand Laureate International Award (Equivalent to a Grammy) in recognition of his photography. He has also been invited to Westminster on several occasions for his views on a Wildlife Bill.
