- Behind the scenes tour
- 30 minutes inside the animal enclosure
- Free entry for one extra person (parent or guardian in the case of under 16’s)
The ‘Meerkat Experience’ involves learning about the diet of these sociable creatures before prepping their food and handing it out. If you are more of a Penguin fan then opt for ‘Penguin Feeding’. You’ll learn about the park’s two resident species of penguins, the Humboldt and Rockhopper - gain hands on experience preparing their fishy treats and making sure they're all fed.
If you’re feeling slightly braver, you should go for the ‘Snuggle up to a Snake’ encounter. Learn about these charming characters, how to handle them and then take one in your arms for a snuggle. The second option for the braver of you is the ‘Tickle a Tarantula’ experience, meet a Bird Eating Tarantula or a Red-kneed Tarantula, and take one in your hands for an exciting encounter.
What happens on the day?A
You will be met at the park by an animal keeper who will give you a behind the scenes tour first and then lead you to which ever activity it is you have chosen. You’ll be given a health and safety briefing and then get to grips with the animals, either being introduced to a few and feeding them or preparing their food first – it depends on which fascinating encounter it is. If you decided to meet a snake or tarantula, don’t worry – they won’t require feeding.
At the end of your experience there will be plenty of time to take some close up photographs, so don’t forget to bring your camera. Participants are welcome to arrive early and stay until the park closes to enjoy other attractions and animals. Also included is free entry to the park for one extra person.
Who is the experience suitable for?A
The minimum age is 6. Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will receive free entry to the Park but not access to the animal enclosure.
When can I do this?A
This experience is run daily except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
It is recommended that you book at least four to six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Your experience will last approximately 30 to 40 minutes, however you are welcome to spend all day at the park.
Can I bring spectators?A
Please note that this experience is for one participant. Although spectators will not be able to accompany the voucher holder during their experience, family and friends may pay normal admission prices to enter the park and enjoy the other attractions and animals.
How does this work?A
All you have to do is pay for the experience and we’ll send a voucher through the post, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
What about insurance?A
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
