Stay four nights in the Victorian, four-star, family run Metropole Hotel, in the historic spa town of Llandrindod Wells. This Hotel is renowned locally, and by the guests who return each year, for its excellent food.

There is plenty to do in the local area, the Heritage Trail and small museums are a great way to discover the history of the town. There are many walking trails for you to choose from in and around Llandrindod, a favourite being around the lake and woodland. You can also take a trip on the Heart of Wales train, which runs between Swansea and Shrewsbury. Bowls, tennis and golf are also available in town and there is also a microbrewery just across the road!

The spectacular Elan Valley, with dams and reservoirs located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. Here you can walk or drive some of the 80 miles of trails and finish the day off with a visit to one of the tea rooms for coffee and cake. The Valley is also an International Dark Sky Park, so it's perfect for stargazing and photography too. Gigrin Red Kite Feeding Station, where up to 600 birds can be seen, also caters for photographers with hides that can be hired.

There are also many National Trust properties a scenic drive away, such as Powis Castle, Croft Castle and Berrington Hall or venture a little further afield to Dinefwr and Dolaucothi Gold Mines. Other places to visit are Hay-On-Wye “The Town Of Books”, Brecon with its cathedral and perhaps a cruise on the canal, head to Aberystwyth on the coast to take a trip on the Victorian Cliff Railway and the steam-hauled, narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway for a scenic journey to Devil’s Bridge.

The Metropole Hotel has been popular for many years with car enthusiasts as a base to travel the tremendous roads in this region of Wales. The Boundless Motorsports Group held their Curtis Bennett Reunion Rally here in 2023! The scenery is fantastic and the traffic is minimal, so driving is always a pleasure.

Check in is from 4pm onwards, but from 2pm you can register with the hotel and are then able to use the spa, including the heated indoor swimming pool, thermal whirlpool spa, sauna, steam room and air-conditioned gym. Luxury spa treatments are available at extra cost, but booking in advance is advised.

Also included in this great break are four choice, three course dinners and full Welsh breakfasts each day, with a welcome drink of wine or orange juice on the first night. There will be entertainment from a choir on one evening and a disco on the last, guests also have free use of the spa facilities including the pool and gym throughout their stay. There is a large hotel car park, which is free for guests. Wi-Fi and porterage are all also free.

£276 per person sharing a double or twin room

Single supplement is charged at £10 for a single bed or £25 for a classic double bed.

Room Upgrades

Superior Double or Twin rooms are available for a supplement of £15

Luxury Tower Double or Twin rooms are available for a supplement of £35

A non-refundable deposit of £20 per person is required to secure the booking.

Reservations cancelled within 4 to 7 days prior to arrival are charged at 60%. Thereafter any cancellations received within 72 hours prior (4pm, 3 days prior) to arrival are charged at 100% of the booking value. Any non-arrivals will be charged for in full. All charges, except deposits, are subject to released accommodation not being re-sold.
