Bristol Balloon Fiesta doesn’t end with the balloons. There are lots of other family-friendly activities to enjoy throughout the weekend, including fireworks, displays, competitions, food-and-drink stalls, live music and a fairground.

Entry to the Bristol Balloon Fiesta is free of charge, which means you can have a great day out with the family without worrying about the cost.

We’ll do everything we can to make your experience of the Bristol Balloon Fiesta as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. As a Boundless member, you’ll get free access to the area, where you can have a free hot drink and put your feet up while your mobile phone securely recharges. You can even leave your bags with us so that you don’t have to carry them around all day.

The Boundless members’ area will be located slightly approximately 100m to the eastern side of the arena, it is up a slight slope and to the right of the funfair. Boundless members’ area

The members area at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta will be open on:

  • Thursday 11 August: 12pm – 11pm (Nightglow and fireworks)
  • Friday 12 August: 6am – 7pm
  • Saturday 13 August: 6am – 11pm (Nightglow and fireworks)
  • Sunday 14 August: 6am – 7pm

In order to access the members’ area, you’ll need to show your Boundless membership card. Friends and family are also welcome as long as they’re with a Boundless member.

Due to congestion in previous years we are limiting the number of friends and family you can bring into the members area to a maximum of 4 adults and 4 children per membership number (this includes the member). This decision has been made to ensure that current members are not turned away due to the area reaching capacity. If you wish to bring additional guests into the hospitality area they will have to be current Boundless members with a valid Boundless membership card.

FAQs

Will COVID restrictions effect this year’s event?

On 19 January the government announced that the measures put in place under plan B in England are to be lifted. In light of this we'd like to inform all our members and guests that we will be following this updated guidance at all of our leisure properties and member events.

Whilst we are all anticipating the return to normal, we are remaining vigilant, and ask all our members and guests to please take note any additional signage/guidance outlined by us that may be present at our properties and events. This is to support us in helping to keep all our members, guests and staff safe.

We continue to express thanks to all our members and guests for their continued patience throughout the challenges of the last two years and as we move forward. Please visit the link below for the latest information, guidance and support regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus):

How can I get there?

Bristol Balloon Fiesta is a very popular event and we recommend the use of public transport where possible.

By bicycle: Those wishing to cycle can take Festival Way, a traffic-free path connecting the city to the Ashton Court Estate and beyond. Starting in Bristol, you can use the National Cycling Route 33 which takes you on a traffic-free path from Queen Square out of the city via Cumberland Road. Crossing the River Avon, you join Kennel Lodge Road as you enter Ashton Court. There is bike parking available on site by the Mansion House and Fallow Deer Park.

On foot: There are two main routes into the site via Festival Way, as detailed above, or via the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

By bus: The First Bus Balloon Shuttle service runs from Temple Meads railway station and the city-centre Metrobus Stop C2 on Colston Avenue to the fiesta. We highly recommend local residents take advantage of this service – tickets are available on the bus with no need to pre-book.

By car: Ashton Court is situated to the southwest of Bristol city centre. There are large car parks on the Ashton Court Estate for the use people attending the fiesta. Parking information can be found on the fiesta website – we strongly recommend buying your parking in advance.

I have a friend or family member who wants to come as well.

Where is the Boundless members area and how do I get in?

The Boundless members’ area will be located slightly approximately 100m to the eastern side of the arena, its is up a slight slope and to the right of the funfair.

For more information on where we’ll be, please login and click on the yellow ‘I’m Interested’ box. Once you have registered, we will email you detailed event information at least 2 weeks before the event.

To get into the members’ area, all you need to do is show any of our team your Boundless membership card. We’ll then issue you with a pass which allows you to drop in as many times as you like over the weekend.

When will the Boundless members area be open?

The members’ area will be open throughout the fiesta, including the evening of the Nightglow and fireworks.

  • Thursday 11 August: 12pm – 11pm (Nightglow and fireworks)
  • Friday 12 August: 6am – 7pm
  • Saturday 13 August: 6am – 11pm (Nightglow and fireworks)
  • Sunday 14 August: 6am – 7pm

The venue is built over a large, mainly accessible space and some or all activities may take place on grassed or uneven land.

How accessible is the site for people with mobility difficulties?

Ashton Court estate has a small amount of trackway, but the majority of the ground is grass and uneven. Those with mobility issues will be able to access the Boundless members’ seating areas. However, due to the way the space is set up, anyone having difficulty with stairs may not be able to access the balcony level.

Is the airshow dog-friendly? And are they allowed in the Boundless Members Area?

Dogs are welcomed to the fiesta. You might experience some loud noises and there will be lots of people, so we recommend having a dog on the lead. Please look out for the full programme of events and plan your trip with your dog around this. Please make sure you do not leave dogs in your car.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the members area, we ask you to please be aware that some people (and particularly children) may find dogs unsettling so please be mindful of others.
