The blooming tulip fields at Keukenhof Gardens in Holland are a sight to behold. We’re offering a relaxing mini cruise to Holland, followed by a trip to these mesmerising bulb fields. Once a modest herb garden, Keukenhof Gardens is now where the Dutch bulb-growing industry stages its annual riot of colour, attracting thousands of visitors. Each year, seven million bulbs are planted across 70 acres, blooming into a kaleidoscopic display.
Arrive in Hull and board P&O’s Pride of Rotterdam or Hull for your overnight cruise to Holland. We board in the afternoon and after making ourselves comfortable and settling into your cabin you can explore the ship. Your hosts will be in the Starlight lounge should you wish to talk to them before going to the restaurant for dinner. The main restaurant the “Kitchen” is buffet style but you can book into the “Brasserie” for fine dining and afterwards we can enjoy various entertainment including a cinema or live entertainment.
Once you’ve docked at Rotterdam and enjoyed a breakfast, you’ll board the coach and head for the famous Keukenhof Gardens to experience one of the world’s finest flower displays (around an hour, depending on traffic). We then return to ship for dinner and evening entertainment
After a relaxing overnight cruise back to Hull, you’ll enjoy a breakfast before continuing your journey home.
Around Keukenhof Gardens
Located in Lisse in the Netherlands, Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens and is open for just eight weeks each year, during which time it attracts around one million visitors.
The gardeners work hard to create new and interesting themes each year. And there are long-established areas, too, like the English Landscape Garden, planted in 1830 and featuring a winding path and ‘secret’ nooks and crannies. The Historical Garden showcases many old bulb varieties, and the Japanese Garden has a non-traditional, enchanted feel, combining shrubs and perennials with bulbs.
£185 pp with two sharing a twin or Double room on half board basis.
£215 per person in a single cabin.
Upgrades are available.
• Car park at port approximately £14 for the period 2018 prices
• Taxis from Hull railway station to the port cost around £8
For anyone with restricted walking, P&O staff will be happy to help transfer you on and off the ship. At Keukenhof Gardens, wheelchairs (these were free in 2018) and Mobility Scooters (rental about Euro’s 10 per day) are available if pre-booked online.
