Once the capital of England, this charming city has a rich history and plenty of attractions to explore. Winchester Cathedral, known for its magnificent architecture and beautiful stained glass windows, is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Here you can also see the 12th-century Winchester Bible. Winchester Castle is also very nearby, explore the Great Hall and marvel at he the legendary Round Table, believe to date back to the 13th century and steeped in myth and legend surrounding King Arthur and his knights. Next to the castle is Winchester College, here you can take a guided tour of the impressive grounds. Founded in 1382, the college has the longest continuous history of any English school and still occupies its original medieval buildings. Also nearby is Winchester's Military Quarter, a group of 6 regimental museums set within the old Peninsular Barracks. Winchester Market is also just 5-minute walk from the hotel, why not take a walk around and browse the many local traders' stalls?

There are also a number of things to do and see a little farther away. Jane Austen's House is located in the picturesque village of Chawton, just a 25 minute drive from Winchester. Marwell Zoo is also reachable within 25 minutes. For the steam train fans, why not take a ride on the Watercress Line through 10 miles of beautiful Hampshire countryside. Hollycombe Working Steam Museum is also fairly close, around a 50 minute drive away.
