The Bickleigh Castle guided Tour with a Devon Cream Tea with us afterwards!
The Bickleigh Castle is set in 60 acres on the banks of the River Exe. It is a fortified manor house which began life as a Norman Motte Castle in the late 11th early 12th century. Once considerably larger it now comprises a group of buildings from various periods. The Gatehouse is a Grade 1 Listed Building, other parts are Grade 11 Listed. 5 acres of the grounds are landscaped and well worth exploring.
Tours of the Castle are by appointment only so this would be a good opportunity for anyone considering a visit to join our friendly Group on this occasion.
Whilst the venue is not entirely accessible to those with disabilities, there are disabled facilities and a reduced entrance fee is charged. There are some steps and some uneven areas. Those with mobility issues can use the car park in the Central Courtyard (no blue badge is required) whilst there is an extensive, free, car park in the grounds close-by for others.
Payment is made on the day but numbers of those attending will be needed by Heather 2 weeks before the event please.
Everyone is welcome.
