About the event

9:30am to 4:45pm, Saturday 6 August 2016

The Borders Railway was opened by the Queen on 6th September last year and 125,000 passengers travelled in the first month. The 2 carriage formation 158 trains have seating for 270 passengers and take about an hour to travel the scenic route between Edinburgh and Tweedmouth.
There has been insufficient interest to qualify for a group booking so members are advised to book their own tickets from intermediate stations if more convenient. The main party will be travelling from Inverkeithing Station on the 0946 am to Waverley and from there the 1025 am to Tweedmouth. We will be disembarking at Galashiels at 1118 am when you will be free to investigate the historical buildings, parks and shops? before those who wish meet up for a pub lunch at 1.00 pm in The Salmon Inn, 54 Bank Street, Galashiels TD1 1EP Tel: 01896 752577. There is a park nearby if a picnic is preferred.
As we will be travelling on off peak tickets the main party intend to return on the 3.07 pm train from Galashiels and the 4.18 pm from Waverley returning to Inverkeithing at 4.41 pm.
