6pm to 9pm, Wednesday 29 August 2018
On 29th August we have arranged an evening cruise on Rutland Water, which was built in 1970 and is set in 3000 acres of rolling Rutland countryside. The reservoir is one of the largest in Western Europe.
The boat, the Rutland Belle, has ample space both under cover and in the open and has a capacity of 110 including 70 in the saloon. A bar is available and there are toilets on board, but unfortunately these are not disabled accessible, there are however accessible toilets in Whitwell before we leave.
The boat has a loading ramp and a lift available if required, there are six wheelchair spaces aboard but electric scooters cannot be accommodated.
The trip will start at 6.15pm from Whitwell harbour which is along Bull Brigg Lane LE15 8BL, off the A606 and is a turning on the left as you are leaving the village, going from the A1. There is a vehicle drop-off point next to the jetty and plenty of parking, the tickets can be validated for free exit at the Watersports centre.
The cruise will last for 1½ hours and there will be a commentary, highlighting points of interest, as we proceed around the reservoir and the boat has a hearing loop fitted. Binoculars may be worth taking as there are several nature reserves near to where we shall be sailing.
Necessary to book, last bookings taken on Monday August 20th. Also, if you have any special dietary requirements please let us know by this date.
Please assemble at the harbour by 6 pm so that we can sail at 6.15pm. sharp as we have a time constraint for the vessels return (i.e. darkness).
Refreshments including freshly made sandwiches, biscuits and tea or coffee will be included in the cost.
£15 per person
