Talk - Memories of Holidays Past

Back to Our community

York Group

About the event

7.30pm to 9.30pm, Wednesday 28 September 2022

The York Group would like to invite you all to this special talk on memories of holidays past given by Chris Helme.

Chris served as a police officer for thirty years and in 1990 was awarded the British Empire medal for services to his community. Amongst many other things, he wrote a weekly nostalgia column in his local newspaper for thirty years, and has also produced and presented a weekly radio show.

His talk looks back at the holidays we had as children – guesthouses, boarding houses, taking your own food, turn around Saturday, the caravan nightmares. Looking back at Blackpool, Sunday school treats and then the package holiday, the cruise ships and the ultimate holiday of the future.

This is a presentation where audience participation is encouraged.

There is complimentary refreshments and free parking.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
