  • Full Welsh breakfasts with 3 course evening menu, 5 choices per course.
  • Use of the spa, pool and gym, welcome drink and 2 nights entertainment.
  • Large car park free for guests, complimentary WiFi and porterage.

We are pleased to be able to offer Boundless members this great value break at the Metropole Hotel , Llandrindod Wells in 2023 which is the Centenary year for CSMA so quite fitting that we return to the location that was used for the Curtis Bennett Rally for so many years. Hopefully some will join us for a trip down memory lane, regulars will book again and we will also have many members new to this Hotel and lovely area. This is a popular break that has sold out early each previous year so prompt booking is advised.

Booking should be possible from July 2022 so don't forget to return to this page for how to secure your place.

Join us on this Welsh break staying in the Victorian 4 star Metropole Hotel, owned and run by the same family for 120 years, in the historic spa town of Llandrindod Wells. This Hotel is renowned locally, and by the guests who return each year, for its excellent food.

Enjoy full buffet breakfasts and dining as a group in the evenings choosing from a 3 course menu with 4 choices per course and tea or coffee. On the first night there will be a welcome drink too. We will be entertained by a local Welsh choir on one evening and we can dance the night away at the disco on the last night! Retire to the Hotel bar and lounge after dinner or maybe mix with the locals in the microbrewery bar just down the street.

Whether you arrive by train or car, check in to rooms is from 4pm onwards but from 2pm you can register with the Hotel then you are welcome to use the spa. It has a 18m heated indoor swimming pool, thermal whirlpool spa, sauna, steam room and a fully equipped air conditioned gym. Luxury spa treatments are available at extra cost but suggest booking in advance as these are very popular.
The Heritage Trail and small museums are a great way to discover the history of the town. There are many walks in and around Llandrindod with the favourite being around the lake and woodland. Bowls, tennis and golf are available in the town too or take a trip on the Heart Of Wales train which runs between Swansea and Shrewsbury.

One spectacular place most guests visit every time, a 25 minute drive from the hotel, is the 72 square mile Elan Valley with dams and reservoirs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walk some of the 80 miles of trails which vary from flat to challenging, maybe bring or hire a bike or book a tour with a ranger. Alternatively drive to each one, take a gentle stroll to enjoy the scenery then visit one of the tea rooms for coffee and homemade cake. It’s an International Dark Sky park so ideal for stargazing and photography too.

Gigrin Red Kite Feeding Station, where up to 600 birds can be seen, also caters for photographers with hides that can be hired. See a craftsman at work at Welsh Royal Crystal workshop in Rhyader. Many National Trust properties are a scenic drive away such as Powis Castle, Croft Castle and Berrington Hall or venture a little further afield to Dinefwr and Dolaucothi Gold Mines.

Other places to visit are Hay-On-Wye “The Town Of Books”, Brecon with its cathedral and perhaps a cruise on the canal, head to Aberystwyth on the coast to take a trip on the Victorian Cliff Railway and the steam-hauled, narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway for a scenic journey to Devil’s Bridge. Have a look at the Hotel website for many more things to see and do.

The Metropole has been popular for many years with car enthusiasts, including members from the Boundless Motoring Groups, as a base to travel the tremendous roads throughout this region of Wales from high mountain passes such as Devil’s Staircase to the open roads such as the A44 from Rhayader to Aberystwyth. The scenery is spectacular and congestion minimal so driving is a pleasure and there’s always space to park in the large Hotel car park on your return.

Whatever your reason for coming along we would love you to join us and your fellow Boundless members for this hosted group break where you will be assured of a warm welcome.
